CAMPANULA
C. lactiflora “Pritchard’s Variety”
Herbaceous perennial with tall branching stems. Clusters of violet blue flowers are produced from July to September. Best in partial shade to retain flower colour. AGM

Striking herbaceous plant. Starry bells are produced in spires throughout summer.
Can also be grown in a pot and treated as a temporary house plant when in flower.

C. comans “Frosted Curls”
Evergreen mound forming grass. Produces long thin light green arching leaves which are curled on the ends. Older leaves turn slightly silver.

Evergreen mound forming grass. Produces long thin lax leaves which are dark bronze. New growth is tinged Pink. Fantastic plant generally receiving the comment “your grass is dead”.

Evergreen mound forming grass. Produces long thin lax leaves which are almost the colour of dairy milk. Slightly shorter in habit than C. ‘Bronze Form’ and richer in colour. looks good all winter.

Pale green, olive grey leaves tinged slightly brown. Makes tufts which when planted in groups take on a warm burnt sugar appearance. Colours enhanced in full sun. Not reliably hardy but readily self seeds.

Much sought after hardy annual. Glaucous foliage and stunning black purple bracts throughout summer. Easy to grow and good at front of the border on in pots.

C. cardunculus ‘Green Globe’
Perennial evergreen with serrated leaves. Highly ornate, looking good in a mixed border or ornamental vegetable garden. Large thistle like flowers during summer. Blanch leaves in winter to produce edible leaf ribs.

Italian variety with large deep purple flower heads. Looks good in the border provided you don’t eat all the chokes.

One of the world oldest vegetables cultivated by the Romans & Greeks. Native to Southern Europe. Tough small artichokes are not the best for eating and the leaves although deeply architectural are also sharply spined. Makes one wonder how it ever became a popular food crop?

Fern leaf Fumewort is a herbaceous perennial with bright yellow flower stalks above fern like foliage. Native of rich soils in open spots in woods in China. Easily cultivated in any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot .

Transsylvanian Fumewort is a herbaceous subspecies similar to the species, yet with showier deep lilac-red flowers and grayish-green leaves. Native of rich soils in woods in Southeastern Europe. Easily cultivated in any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot.

Much sought after winter flowering small shrub. Lovely grey green foliage and masses of clear soft yellow flowers from Late winter into spring. Hardy but not exposed site.

Tall sword like neatly ribbed leaves and viperous rich red flowers, this is the Crocosmia which got everyone interested in them again. Prefers full sun to partial shade and a little winter protection to really do well. Ideal border plant for a little tomato-red spice.

Native to Korea a useful clump forming grass which prefers sun or partial shade. Produces masses of gently arching grey-green foliage which turns butter yellow in Autumn. Plumes of cloudy flowers produced in late summer. Easy.
